Soompi on the Scene: ZE:A Showcase, SMTOWN Pop-Up Store, and More!

Hi Soompiers,

Hope your summer has been going well! The weather here in Seoul has been unbearably hot and humid, but we’ve kept ourselves cool in the Soompi office. Lots of cold sodas and iced coffees to keep our body temperatures down, and K-Pop tunes and episodes of “We Got Married” to take our minds of the heat! Here’s a rundown of our latest happenings and sightings in this hot hot city. Above is talented K-Pop fusion trio Odd Eye (two violinists and a cellist) at their fan sign in Gwanghwamun. Definitely check them out!

We stopped by the SMTOWN EXO pop-up store at the Lotte Young department store in Myeong-dong! So many cute official SM goods here. Mostly EXO-themed, but there was plenty of Girls’ Generation, SHINee, DBSK, and BoA merchandise as well! The Kai A4 file was catching our eye, we have to admit… but what would you have picked up? EXO socks or face masks? Maybe a pack of Seohyun or Jonghyun postcards? Hold onto that thought for now — we’ll tell you why soon!

Our lovely senior editor from Soompi Spanish, Rossana, visited Korea all the way from Peru! SHINee Peru fan club representation!

Soompi partnered with Star Empire, Ustream, and KT Genie to present the ZE:A “Illusion” showcase – check out our cute banner! Look out for our exclusive and funny video footage coming soon^^

One of our team lunches: “mountain vegetable” bibimbap (the “bap” is on the side)! A healthy meal^^

Wow, whose sexy legs are these? We may have obtained some nice autographed sets from iconic singer Lee Jung Hyun (who turned out to be super sweet and kind in person)! Check out her music video, which was directed by Park Chan Wook and his brother Park Chan Kyung.

Last but not least, our newest wall decoration. That’s right, Soompi is an official sponsor of the upcoming 8th Annual Seoul International Drama Awards. As you probably know, it was your votes that counted toward the Outstanding Korean Drama and People’s Choice Awards. Look out for us at the event on September 5! Can’t wait? Join us for our weekly recap of the newest drama in town, “Master’s Sun,” with esteemed guest editor softycadence!

Our goal is to help bring you all the K-Pop and K-Drama stuff you need, straight from the source! Tell us what part of Seoul you want to check out — maybe a concert, a store, a delicious Korean dish, one of the entertainment agency headquarters, or something else. We’ll select one person to win an official K-Pop postcard set (your choice of artist, if available)! Use the comments section below, Facebook, or Twitter!
